Probably a lot of people have talked about their process. Me? i'm always changing it. Why? because of what influences me. i've never seen art as, with a "one way to get there" approach. However, finding a process that works for me has been something of a journey. for me i could never really figure out why i did things the way i did. until i started my Year One sketch diary. i wasn't until recently that i started to understand why i just....stopped, seemingly right in the middle of a sketch. It's because subconsciously, i was finished. what i mean is, i gathered all the information i needed and was ready to move on. gestures, shapes, proportions, it was all right there, the ground work for building an image. it's funny you'd think i would've figured it out by now but some learn differently.
as for my sketches, they are the completion of stage one. stage two, ah ha, there's the trick. but my new friend Cintiq will help with that. you see i'm overly obsessive about trial an error, and i don't have lot of free time to draw, on paper. what that means is, i may like what i've laid out, but i may not be entirely sold on what i want it to look like. like i said my process is a journey of sorts, and i may not end up, where i thought i was going. So, i like to experiment and not screw it up. (thank you command Z) but in the end, i can't be with Mr. Cintiq 24/7. No, i must retire to a day job, so the sketch pad during lunch will have to do, until i and Cintiq are together again.
So, what's all that jazz about the Sketch diary? stage two is about to blow up...
peace
